On a night like tonight,
I want to throw it back. Way back.
Way back to my favorite summer nights.
I want to throw it back to skip it’s, jump ropes, roller skates and bicycles.
I want to throw it back to the summers I ran around catching fireflies in glass jars.
I want to throw it back to the summer nights I thanked the street lights for holding out a little longer.
I want to throw it back. Way back
I want to throw it back to summer camps, wave pools, and capture the flag.
I want to throw it back to ripping apart packs of ICEE’s to find my favorite flavor.
I want to throw it back to mosquito bites, scrapes from falling outside, and awful tan lines.
I want to throw it back. Way back.
I want to throw it back to that baby weight that always disappeared from June to August .
I want to throw it back to that beautiful burnt red/orange my skinned turned after spending all 3 months in the sun.
I want to throw it back to falling sleep in my mother’s lap as she stayed up all night platting my summer braids.
I want to throw it back. Way back.
I want to throw it back to the slip & slide with the sprinkler in the yard.
I want to throw it back to neighbors and block parties.
I want to throw it back to my childhood summers.
On a night like tonight, I want to throw it back. Way back.
