Sometimes I accredit the change to being a late bloomer. I was never the girl that guys lined up to date and trust I wasn’t the girl who was going to be dressed in the 9's. And honestly, to the old me, going to the nail salon was more of a hassle than it was a good time. The new attention became addicting. I began to feed the areas where I was drawing attention rather than the areas that made me feel most whole.
I was excited about the stuffed chicken and a glass of Chardonnay while his girlfriend (or maybe not) sat behind some Apple device with a copy of his iCloud about to take her own life.
In our 15 years of friendship, we have seen friends come and go. We have seen careers shift, dreams realized, & goals grow. In any of my darkest moments, you were always the light that shined the brightest and the Amen to the prayer my heart just couldn’t get into words. In you I found a soulmate, someone to spend a plethora of drunken nights with, to cry & laugh ourselves to sleep with, to spend holidays with, someone to go to church with, someone to create goals & crush them with, I could go on forever. We understand each other. To find that bond as early as we did, and to keep that bond strong despite the deterrents that we faced, is something I’ll forever be thankful for.
